About Me

Testing, Testing 123: Phlebotomy Basics

When my mother underwent chemotherapy, we spent a lot of time visiting the phlebotomy lab for blood testing. I was always impressed by how easily the phlebotomist was able to find and puncture a vein to draw blood on the first try. I knew there had to be a method to it, and was astounded by how effortless and painless they made the process. It led me to research a lot about blood tests, from drawing to the actual screening. I've created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of teaching others. The more you understand, the more control you can have over your own health care.

What Are Dermal Fillers? Everything You Need To Know

by Francisco Arnold

If you have wrinkles on your face, it may be making you appear older than you actually are. This can make you feel self-conscious about your looks. If you have both deep and minor wrinkles on your face, don't make an appointment just yet for cosmetic surgery. Dermal fillers may just do the trick to get rid of your wrinkles without going under the knife. Read on for information about dermal fillers and everything you should know about them.

What Is A Dermal Filler?

A dermal filler is a safe injectable filler that is used to fill in wrinkles on the face. It can enhance the face's natural shape and contour and fill in the face where it may have lost volume. Injectable fillers come in a variety of different types including Restalyne, Botox, Juvederm, and a number of others as well. The type of filler you use may depend on who you are using for the injections. Some offices may only carry one type, while others may offer a number to choose from.

Who Administers The Injections?

Dermal fillers should only be injected by someone that knows what they are doing. These injections need to be placed in the proper place for the best possible results. If the person that is doing the injections are not placed properly, you may end up with poor results as well as a longer recovery time, excessive bruising or more than normal pain. Never attempt to administer dermal fillers yourself or use someone that has never done this type of work before. Only use a professional that is experienced with dermal fillers such as a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. Ask for patient feedback about their injections and find out how long they have been administering injectables.

What Can You Expect After Receiving An Injection?

Immediately after you receive an injection of dermal fillers, you may feel some pain at the injection sites, some bruising, swelling and redness as well. The swelling should go down after just a few hours, although you may feel pain and bruising for a few days afterwards. If the injections were not injected properly, you may feel pain for much longer. You may also feel some numbness after the procedure. If you continue to feel pain or numbness, talk to your physician.

If you are considering doing something about those wrinkles, consider dermal fillers before going under the knife. These fillers can help fill in your wrinkles and make you feel more like yourself again. Talk to a dermal filler treatment professional about dermal fillers today.
