About Me

Testing, Testing 123: Phlebotomy Basics

When my mother underwent chemotherapy, we spent a lot of time visiting the phlebotomy lab for blood testing. I was always impressed by how easily the phlebotomist was able to find and puncture a vein to draw blood on the first try. I knew there had to be a method to it, and was astounded by how effortless and painless they made the process. It led me to research a lot about blood tests, from drawing to the actual screening. I've created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of teaching others. The more you understand, the more control you can have over your own health care.

PTSD And Virtual Healthcare Services

by Francisco Arnold

Traumatic events can have a lasting impact on a victim's ability to engage fully in his or her daily life. Unfortunately, many victims who suffer from PTSD go undiagnosed and do not receive the help they need to manage and overcome the symptoms of PTSD that might be plaguing them each day.

Virtual healthcare services can help make treatment for PTSD more accessible than ever so that victims can seek out the help they need.

Diagnosing PTSD

The first step in diagnosing PTSD is recognizing some of the warning signs that indicate a patient may be suffering from this disorder. Irregular sleep patterns, high levels of anxiety, and other symptoms need to be identified early by primary care providers.

Virtual health networks give patients access to educated nursing and intake staff members who have the training needed to identify potential PTSD problems. These skilled healthcare workers can provide a referral to an experienced behavioral and mental health provider so that the patient can begin receiving much-needed treatment.

Access to Quality Care

Not everyone who suffers from PTSD has immediate access to the type of care needed to treat this disorder.

Patients living in rural areas might have to drive great distances to see a behavioral and mental health specialist who is capable of effectively treating PTSD. When multiple appointments are needed to manage the disorder, this type of travel arrangement isn't feasible.

Virtual healthcare services let patients bring a qualified therapist into their home via video chat. This accessibility means that any person suffering from PTSD can receive the care and guidance of a healthcare professional who specializes in treating patients with PTSD.

Affordable Care

The cost of receiving treatment for behavioral or mental health problems can be great. Many patients do not have the financial resources needed to pay for PTSD treatment, even when insurance covers a portion of the treatment costs.

Virtual healthcare can provide a more affordable alternative. Since no physical office is required to treat patients virtually, the overhead costs of a virtual clinic are very low. Healthcare providers pass these savings along to their patients by reducing treatment rates.

PTSD is a real problem for patients who have experienced significant trauma during their lifetime. Virtual healthcare services can offer the treatment options needed to ensure all patients with PTSD get the help they need to overcome the devastating effects of this disorder and experience full lives once more.
