Testing, Testing 123: Phlebotomy Basics

When my mother underwent chemotherapy, we spent a lot of time visiting the phlebotomy lab for blood testing. I was always impressed by how easily the phlebotomist was able to find and puncture a vein to draw blood on the first try. I knew there had to be a method to it, and was astounded by how effortless and painless they made the process. It led me to research a lot about blood tests, from drawing to the actual screening. I've created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of teaching others. The more you understand, the more control you can have over your own health care.

Acoustic Wave Therapy: A New, Non-Invasive Treatment Option For Erectile Dysfunction

by Francisco Arnold

Both younger and older men can suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED); however, age is a common issue man with ED. Certain medical conditions and even mental conditions, like depression, can also cause problems with males' sexual health. There are both invasive and non-invasive treatment options for men having issues with this condition.

Common Cause Of Erectile Dysfunction

Age does have an impact on a man's ability to achieve or keep an erection. However, there are also certain medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also contribute to erectile dysfunction, such as:

  • • Heart conditions
  • • Diabetes
  • • Smoking cigarettes
  • • Being overweight
  • • Low testosterone

These conditions and lifestyle choices contribute to ED because they restrict the blood flow to the veins and arteries needed to achieve and keep an erection. This restriction flow generally occurs over time.

Non-Invasive Erectile Dysfunction Treatments

Doctors can offer patients a variety of treatment options for ED. Non-invasive treatments are tried first. Some treatment options are:

  • • Prescription Medications
  • • Testosterone therapy
  • • Vacuum erection devices
  • • Penile injections

One of the newest non-invasive erectile dysfunction procedures is acoustic wave therapy. This is for both ED and men who just want to improve their performance in the bedroom. Acoustic wave therapy is an in-office treatment that is also non-invasive and little side effects. It works by using low-intensity sound waves. This treatment is an effective alternative to prescription medications, injections, and penile implants.

How Acoustic Wave Therapy Works

Acoustic wave therapy uses gentle, low-intensity sound waves to stimulate the formation of new blood vessels. This therapy also has other benefits. It also:

  • • Promotes improved blood flow
  • • Reduces inflammation
  • • Stimulates stem cells for long-term healing

The therapy uses pulsed acoustic waves delivered through the skin into penile tissue to repair aging blood vessels and new blood vessel growth. It is done in the doctor's office and usually takes a few 30-minute sessions.

The Benefits of Acoustic Wave Therapy

Acoustic wave therapy is both safe and effective without the worry of the side effects associated with taking oral prescription medications. After treatment, men report a restoration of their vitality and spontaneous active sex life.

Erectile dysfunction is a common complaint for men, and the non-invasive treatments allow them to return to a more normal sex life. Now with the addition of acoustic wave therapy, men have a greater choice in treatment before having to resort to more invasive procedures, like penile implants.

There are effective, safe treatments for ED, so men don't have to settle for a less than ideal sex life for themselves and their partners. Reach out to a doctor to learn more about non-invasive erectile dysfunction procedures
