Testing, Testing 123: Phlebotomy Basics

When my mother underwent chemotherapy, we spent a lot of time visiting the phlebotomy lab for blood testing. I was always impressed by how easily the phlebotomist was able to find and puncture a vein to draw blood on the first try. I knew there had to be a method to it, and was astounded by how effortless and painless they made the process. It led me to research a lot about blood tests, from drawing to the actual screening. I've created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of teaching others. The more you understand, the more control you can have over your own health care.

by Francisco Arnold

Having trouble going to sleep is something you may encounter from time to time. You may not be sleeping because you're sleeping in too late, or you just aren't active enough throughout the day, or it may simply be that you can't sleep because you're worried or anxious about the next day. Whatever the reason for your hard time sleeping, if it's been ongoing, it may be time to seek help from a sleep clinic. Read on for some signs that it's time to go to a sleep clinic for help to get the quality sleep you desperately need.

1. You're Having Trouble Focusing Daily

If your difficulty with sleeping is causing you to have trouble focusing the following day, it may be time to get to a sleep clinic. Your difficult time focusing can cause problems in your day-to-day life, such as issues with relationships, friendships, and issues at your job as well. Injuries can occur if you aren't completely focused, especially if you're operating heavy machinery and are drowsy the following day after not sleeping, or after several days of not sleeping.

2. You're Falling Asleep During The Day

If your trouble sleeping is causing you to fall asleep throughout the day when you should be working, or you're at the wheel driving, it's a problem that needs to be taken care of. There's a reason that you cannot sleep and if you're falling asleep instead during the day, you need to get your sleep schedule straightened out. A sleep clinic will be able to help you with this.

3. You're More Anxious Or Stressed

If your lack of sleep is increasing your levels of anxiety or stress, it's a problem you need to have taken care of. If you already have stress and anxiety in your daily life, a lack of sleep can only worsen these things for you. If you've noticed this increasing in your life along with the lack of sleep, it's time to seek help from a sleep clinic.

If you have any of these issues, it's time to make an appointment with a sleep clinic. You may need sleep therapy, or you could need medication to help you get the right amount of sleep you need. A lack of sleep can begin to wear on your body and your relationships in your life. You need proper sleep every night, and a sleep clinic can help you achieve this.
