About Me

Testing, Testing 123: Phlebotomy Basics

When my mother underwent chemotherapy, we spent a lot of time visiting the phlebotomy lab for blood testing. I was always impressed by how easily the phlebotomist was able to find and puncture a vein to draw blood on the first try. I knew there had to be a method to it, and was astounded by how effortless and painless they made the process. It led me to research a lot about blood tests, from drawing to the actual screening. I've created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of teaching others. The more you understand, the more control you can have over your own health care.

Stem Cells Bring New Life To Aching Knees

by Francisco Arnold

Pain is the most common reason people go to the doctor. In this sense, pain can be considered the greatest discomfort a person can experience in their daily lives. A discomfort big enough for them to get out of their homes and wait for medical attention. What this means is that pain can be considered a condition that's really hard to deal with.

Taking this into consideration, chronic pain could be seen as a form of unending torture for the people feeling it. Sadly, joint pain, and particularly knee pain, is one of the most common causes of chronic pain. Not only this but there are few treatments that can actually bring comfort to a chronic knee pain patient. This is why science has tried developing new agents that can bring solutions to the most disheartening of health problems: pain.

Stem cells bring new life to aching knees

One of the latest advancements in health is the usage of stem cell therapy in order to bring new life to tissues in the body. The idea of stem cells is that they act as the basic material for any tissue in the body. This includes the articular components in the knee like cartilage, bone, ligaments, etc.

This is crucial because many knee pain cases are caused by damaged joint components due to the wear and tear of everyday life. And, with the use of stem cell therapy, all the aforementioned components could potentially be restored, at least partially.

What this means for the aching knee patient is that the pain could be gradually reduced with the use of stem cell therapy. And, not only this but also the very cause of the problem could be reversed to a certain extent. This kind of treatment can even help people delay or discard the need for a knee surgical intervention. In general, stem cell therapy in joints can be associated with a reduction in pain, an increase in everyday joint function, and an improvement in overall quality of life.

Taking this into consideration, it's evident that stem cells can be seen as one of the most promising resources for aching knee patients. Allowing them to live a normal life without having to worry frequently about knee pain. Making this one of the greatest investments anyone can make is important because uncontrolled chronic pain can be seen as an obstacle to enjoying life itself.
